Creating a Perfectly Understandable Product Label Design

When you are designing labels for your new products, there are a lot of things you should keep in mind. You’ve probably already thought about really important matters, like FDA regulations. You’ve considered the importance of nutrition facts and so forth. Color choices, text, images, logo placement, and more have all flooded your mind. Hopefully, you’ve figured out how you would like your product packaging to look. But, whether you have or not, it’s important to think a little more about your product label design. Is it something that people can easily understand? Yes, the font should make the text easy to read. But, is the overall design something that consumers will be able to truly understand? Let’s discuss what it really means to have an “easy-to-understand” product label design.

Your Perfect Product Label Design

No one can choose the product label design like you can. As the creator of the product, you know the consumer market you want to reach. Most likely, you have studied to figure out who can use your product. You’ve figured out if your brand will be more valuable to men, women, children, teens, pet owners, or even homeowners. This kind of research should be done by all producers. That’s because it allows people to know where and how to sell what they have created. If you have done this background searching, then you might have a picture in mind of how you want to present your brand.

Having this information in your head allows you to work your way towards making the perfect product label design, created just for your brand. But, even though you know who you’re reaching and how you’re going to do so, it helps to take a few pointers from others. You certainly want to put your best foot forward when it comes to presenting your brand and products. So, why don’t we talk a bit about how to make labels that are understandable and clear.

Tips on Making Clear Labels

We don’t mean ‘clear’ as in “transparent” or “see-through”. We mean easy to understand. Your product label design should not cause confusion. People should be able to look at the packaging and learn exactly what it is and what it can do for them. Be sure that the label clearly states how it can benefit the consumer. You don’t want to leave them confused about the value or use of your product. So, be precise and clear about that. Finally, as we mentioned before, you definitely want to make sure that the label is easy to read as far as text and layout are concerned. Don’t let the design seem too cluttered or overwhelming. If people feel that the label is too difficult to understand, they might not pay attention to or buy your product. And, we certainly can’t have that!
